The Unbearable Heaviness of Being

My quest for the eternal lightness

Picture taken from:

Hoisting the Jalur Gemilang (properly please) high enough and singing NegaraKu (rap or not) better than Luciano Pavarotti will not prove me any more Malaysian, or will it??!

….50 years and at the dawning of the jubilee, we are greeted with bocors, beruks, monyets, pondans, and all sorts of name-callings. Aiyah…come on lah!!

An average Malaysian like me probably only seek to be assured beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is integrity and justice in the governing of tanah tumpahnya darahku. And where the rakyat hidup in cohesion within and among communities – engagement in absolute civility and respect, having a deep-seated sense of ownership over the problems of the country and to take decisive action and make whatever sacrifices necessary for the good of the country then, only then, our prayer for rahmat bahgia will be meaningful. These, are probably not only the hope of an average Malaysian, but also, I believe, a decree of Raja kita.

How about displaying that for a change? NegaraKu – more than just a song, right?
